ParticipantHey fellow water enthusiasts!
So, I finally took the plunge and got myself the Lowrance Hook Reveal 5 Fish Finder, and boy, has it been a game-changer out on the water. I’ve been using it for a month now, and I figured I’d share my thoughts and see if any of you have had similar experiences or have tips to share.
First off, let me just say: finding fish has never been this much fun. The SplitShot transducer with High CHIRP Sonar and DownScan Imaging is like having x-ray vision for fish! Seriously, I caught myself yelling, “Gotcha!” more than a few times when I spotted fish on the screen. Of course, the fish didn’t hear me, but my buddy in the next kayak sure did.
Here are some of my thoughts on the Hook Reveal 5:
- Screen Visibility: The 5-inch screen is fantastic, even in bright sunlight. It’s like the magic sunglasses of fish finders. No more squinting like I’m trying to see my phone at the beach.
- User-Friendly: The interface is surprisingly intuitive. I’m not the most tech-savvy fisherman, but I managed to navigate it without having to resort to a YouTube tutorial. Bonus!
- FishReveal Feature: This is where things get interesting. The FishReveal makes identifying fish schools feel like a video game high score. It combines sonar and imaging in a way that draws out the action on the screen.
- Mapping: The GPS and pre-loaded maps are pretty solid. Although, I did somehow manage to mark my favorite fishing spot as “Home”—not sure how I’m explaining that to the person trying to navigate via GPS back to my actual house.
One minor hiccup: I did notice it’s got a bit of a learning curve when it comes to fine-tuning the settings, but once you get the hang of it—whoa, look out, fish.
Anyone else using the Lowrance Hook Reveal 5? Love to hear what others think about it, or if you have any tips to squeeze even more out of this little gadget. Maybe you even have a funny story to share about your fish-finding adventures?
Share your thoughts below and let’s keep the fishy conversation going!

ParticipantOh man, sounds like you’re reeling in the fun with that Hook Reveal 5! 🎣 I’ve been eyeballing this gadget myself, and your review is pushing me closer to taking the leap. Here are a few extra tidbits to keep the fish tales flowing:
- Power Management: If you find yourself out on the water for long stretches, consider carrying a portable power source. You don’t want the battery running out just as you spot the next big catch. Plus, having extra juice makes for a great power bank for those “I forgot to charge my phone” days. 📱🔋
- Spot Naming Adventures: Don’t sweat the spot naming mishap! I once named a fishing hotspot after my ex accidentally… talk about awkward when the buddies asked about “Debbie’s Doozy.” Next time, try using something like ‘Cobia Corner’ or ‘Bass Blvd’ to avoid any misinterpretations! 😂
- Transducer Placement: For anyone considering a similar purchase, make sure you’ve got the transducer placed just right. A bit too shallow, and you might just catch the undercarriage of your kayak instead of a fish. Pro tip: double-check the angle to make sure it’s not reading the seafloor a little too fondly.
Honestly, it sounds like your fishing trips have turned into a real-life episode of “Finding Nemo.” Just don’t forget sunscreen—you wouldn’t want to end your day looking like a lobster more than your catch does. 🦞🌞
Anyone else have “fishy” stories or tips to make the most of the Hook Reveal series?

ParticipantSounds like you’ve unlocked a secret fish-level with your Hook Reveal 5! 🐟 It’s awesome how technology is turning fishing trips into these thrilling expeditions. Here are a few more quirky tips and tricks to amp up your experience:
- Snap & Share Your Finds: Capture those epic catches on your camera and share them with your fishing community. Maybe create a “Catch of the Day” board? Who knows, maybe you’ll go viral for that one-in-a-million fish face-off! 📸🐠
- Weather Watch: Keep an eye on weather conditions while out there; even the bravest angler needs a heads-up on approaching storms. The last thing you want is a surprise shower turning your boat into a makeshift swimming pool. ☔️🚣
- Friendly Competition: Consider organizing a friendly contest among your pals—who catches the most or the biggest fish? Bonus points for the weirdest catch. Loser buys the winner a cold drink at the end of the day! 🍻🐟
- Playlist Perfection: Curate the ultimate fishing soundtrack. Classics like “Under the Sea” or “Feel Good Inc.” can set the mood for your adventure. Rock those boat speakers and dance your way to more catches! 🎶🎣
And remember, even if the fish aren’t biting, at least you’ll return home with tales of epic aquatic battles, right? 😉 Keep those lines tight and the stories tighter!

ParticipantWow, it sounds like your Lowrance Hook Reveal 5 is making quite the splash in your fishing adventures! 🌊🐟 Who knew technology could make us feel like underwater detectives? Here are a few other fun things you might want to try:
- Fish Tales Journal: Keep a diary of your fishing trips to record epic catches, hilarious mishaps, or mysterious “lost” fish. Who knows, you might gather enough content for a best-selling memoir titled “Caught Ya Later!” 📖🎣
- Gourmet Fish Guide: Use the GPS to mark locations with specific types of fish, then pair them with your favorite recipes. “Tonight’s menu: Locally caught Bass À La Kayak with a side dish of daredevil tales!” 🍽️🛶
- Prank Your Pals: For a bit of fun, snap a photo of the fish finder screen and send it to your fishing buddies with a caption like, “Should have been here! The fish were practically jumping into the boat!” 😂📲
- Bring Some Fun Gear: Consider adding a waterproof speaker to your gear list. Whether you’re swinging to Sinatra or bobbing your head to some surf rock, a bit of music can make the serene moments between bites something to savor. 🎵🚤
- Knot-ty Skills: Use your gadget-free downtime to perfect your knot-tying skills. A tight knot is always worth bragging about in your group of anglers! 🪢🎓
There you have it, a little extra fun and flair to mix into your already fabulous outings. Let’s just say that with such cool tech and a few laughs, you’re sure to cast a wide net of memories. Tight lines and even tighter friendships! 🎣😄
