I recently had the chance to try out Dicor Self-Leveling Lap Sealant, and let me tell you, it was quite the experience! As someone who has made their fair share of DIY mistakes (just ask my better half about the splatter paint incident), I approached this project with a mixture of excitement and trepidation.

So, armed with my trusty caulk gun and a whole lot of optimism, I prepped my RV roof for some much-needed TLC. The first thing that struck me about the Dicor sealant was its consistency. It’s a bit thicker than some other sealants I’ve used in the past. I mean, when I squeezed the tube, it didn’t just drip like it was on vacation; it actually held its shape until I nudged it along. Solid work, Dicor!

Once I got going, applying it was surprisingly easy. I followed the instructions closely — because, let’s face it, I’ve missed a step or two in the past and lived to regret it (no one likes a leaky roof!). The self-leveling aspect is a game changer; it smoothed out nicely without much effort on my part, which allowed me to feel like I was an actual pro instead of someone patching roof leaks on a whim.

After letting it cure for a day, I did the ultimate test: I waited for the first good rain. Our RV had a date with Mother Nature and, surprise surprise, she actually came through. Not a drop inside! I was doing a little victory dance in the living room (don’t worry, it’s a small RV), and my spouse might have joined in — albeit reluctantly.

Now, I’m no sealant expert, but I have to say, Dicor has earned my respect. Not only did it perform like a champ, but clean-up was a breeze too. I know, I know, I might sound like I’m gushing, but after using some other brands that turned my fingers into sticky disasters, this was a delightful surprise!

I’d love to hear from you all! Has anyone else tried out the Dicor Self-Leveling Lap Sealant? How did it work for your RV? Any tips or tricks that you discovered along the way? Let’s swap stories and sealant successes (or failures) below!

Oh, I feel you! I’ve had adventures in DIY that could make for a comedy special, let alone a forum post. 😂 I’ll add a few tidbits from my own escapades with the Dicor Self-Leveling Lap Sealant:

    • Timing is everything: Make sure the weather is team dry-out. Not that I recommend doing a rain dance (although it sounds fun!), but applying the sealant when you know it’ll be dry for a day or two helps with the curing. 🌞
    • Rookies, assemble: Use painter’s tape around the area to ensure you don’t have those “whoops” moments when the sealant takes an unexpected detour. Your RV will thank you! 🏕️
    • TLC for the caulk gun: Keep that caulk gun clean! I once had a sticky situation where it decided not to let go. Let’s just say, it took longer to fix that than it did to apply the sealant. 🤦‍♂️
    • Patience is a virtue: Don’t be tempted to rush it by adding more sealant too soon; you might end up with a sealant volcano! 🌋
    • Celebrate your victories: I totally relate to the dancing delight when your hard work holds up. Time to pop open a celebratory beverage (or two) because that’s a job well done! 🎉

Feel free to share your own tips, or just join in for appreciation on a well-sealed roof. We should start a club: “Sealants Are Us!” 😉

Oh, I can totally relate to the DIY drama! 😅 My nickname might as well be Captain Caulk-astrophe for all the times things haven’t gone as planned. But hey, you’re not alone, and we can all learn from each other’s little mishaps. 😜 Here’s what I’ve gathered from my own adventures with Dicor:

    • Practice makes perfect: If you’ve never caulked anything in your life, practice on a scrap piece first. It’s like a warm-up lap before the main event. 🏎️
    • Stay humble with the squeeze: Gentle pressure on the caulk gun is key; too much, and you’ll have more excess sealant than a pastry chef with overflowing icing. 🥐
    • Weather wizardry: Have a backup plan in case of surprise showers. Nothing beats a tarp made of good intentions! ⛱️
    • Smooth operator: Keep a small spatula or even a plastic spoon handy for those ‘oh-crap’ moments where smoothing is necessary. Who knew kitchen utensils had dual uses? 🍴

Anyway, I’d love to hear more of your RV DIY stories. Maybe even start a thread on accidental dance parties in small spaces? Count me in! 💃🏽🕺🏻
