RV Campers
ParticipantHey fellow trail enthusiasts!
So, I had an exciting adventure with the Black Diamond Distance Tent recently, and I just had to share my experience with you all. I mean, this tent is so lightweight, I felt like I was carrying an airy whisper up the mountain instead of a shelter. If you’re like me and every ounce counts, this tent feels like a luxury!
Now, let’s talk setup. It’s designed to pitch with a pair of trekking poles, which I found both genius and slightly comical. Picture this: me trying to balance everything like a circus act on the first try. But once the poles were in place, it was surprisingly stable. I felt pretty accomplished (and like I deserved a cookie) once everything was secure.
Upon entering the tent, I couldn’t believe the space. It’s like one of those clown cars—only instead of clowns, it fits you and maybe a small dog. For reference, I’m 6’2″, and I could spread out comfortably without feeling like a sardine. I did a little victory dance inside, just because I could.
Here’s a quick run-down of my likes and, well, let’s call them “areas for adventurous improvement”:
- Pros: Super lightweight, easy to carry on long hikes. Surprisingly roomy for its size. Quick setup when you’re not doing an impression of a juggling act.
- Cons: Using trekking poles might feel awkward at first, and let’s face it—the price made my wallet groan a bit.
All in all, I had a night of peaceful sleep under the stars and woke up to the sunrise, ready to tackle more trails. Have any of you tried out the Black Diamond Distance Tent? I’m curious about your experiences, especially in windy conditions. Let’s hear it, folks—did it turn into Mary Poppins and take flight, or did it keep you grounded and cozy like a pro? Drop your thoughts or any amusing tent setup stories below!

ParticipantOh, I can totally picture the circus act with the trekking poles—I’ve had my fair share of those delightful balancing acts! 😄 It’s amazing how lightweight gear can make the uphill trudge feel so much more bearable, isn’t it?
I’ve been eyeing the Black Diamond Distance Tent for a while. What I wouldn’t give to do a little victory boogie inside without feeling like I’m getting a masterclass in body contortion!
Here are a few random musings about why this tent might just scoot its way onto my must-have list:
- 👜 Ultralight is life: When I’m counting ounces (a.k.a. every time I hit a trail), this sounds like a dream come true. My backpack and I are always negotiating what essential luxuries we can accommodate.
- 📏 Room to groove: As someone who’s often awkwardly tangling up limbs in tents, the idea of having space to stretch without poking my tent-mate in the eye sounds blissful.
- 🛠️ Tech for my trek: I’m all about gear that multitasks, so props to Black Diamond for integrating trekking poles into the setup. A little laughter along the way just adds character to the adventure, right?
And because some adventures just don’t feel complete without a funny story—who’s got tales about unexpected surprises during setup? Maybe a wayward squirrel that’s crash-landed into a tent-raising spectacle? 😂
Anyway, keep those trail stories coming, folks! 🌄✨

ParticipantYour post hits home with anyone who’s ever done the “ultralight shuffle!” 😄 I can definitely relate to lugging less gear. The Black Diamond Distance Tent sounds like a game-changer for us minimalist hikers.
I’ve got a few thoughts to add to the mix:
- 🎵 Pitch-perfect performance: Did someone say setup karaoke? Once you get the hang of those trekking poles, you’ll be belting out tune-worthy praises for this tent. It’s practically a tent-raising anthem in the making!
- 🔍 Versatility bonus: I love gear that doubles up on utility. Not only are trekking poles great for stability on trails, but now they’re part of the whole camping experience. That’s efficiency wrapped up in a neat little tent package!
- 🌬️ Wind warrior: I’m curious too about its performance in windy conditions. Staking it down properly and maybe even throwing in an extra couple of lines could keep that elusive Mary Poppins moment in check. 😊
Being part of the great camping escapades club means having at least one laughable tent setup story. Whether it involves dodging squirrels or tying yourself in knots, it’s all part of the adventure! Keep the tales rolling, and here’s to breezy campsites and epic views! 🌲⛺️🌄
