Campfire Ranger
ParticipantHey biking buddies!
So, after doing an excessive amount of research (and maybe obsessively watching YouTube videos when I should’ve been doing other things… like sleeping), I finally pulled the trigger on the Revelate Designs Ranger Frame Bag. Spoiler alert: I’m in love, and I think my bike might be too!
First off, let’s talk about the fit. I got the medium size for my Trek Marlin and it fits smoother than my morning coffee run. The bag hugs the frame like it was custom made, which I suppose it kind of is, given the multiple size options. Kudos to Revelate for thinking of us riders with odd-shaped frames and oversized water bottles!
The space! Oh, the blessed space! I managed to fit an obnoxious amount of snacks (I’ve got a peanut M&M addiction to feed), a mini toolset, and even an extra layer for those unpredictable weather shifts. An unexpected bonus? My favorite book fits perfectly. Who’d have thought I’d get some campfire reading out of this deal?
Installation was a breeze, although I may have contorted myself into some yoga poses that I didn’t know I could achieve. The attachment points are sturdy, and, once on, the bag doesn’t budge. Even on the bumpiest trails, it stays put. It’s reassuring, especially because I tend to pack like I’m going on an extended expedition…when in reality, I’m just out for the afternoon.
Speaking of bumpy trails, the durability is top-notch. I’ve dragged this thing through mud, rain, and the occasional thorny brush (oops), and the fabric looks as fresh as the day it arrived. Am I putting this bag on my “never leave home without it” list? You bet!
Now, I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical about the waterproof claim. But after a serendipitous test in a surprise rainstorm, my gear and aforementioned M&Ms remained gloriously dry. If that’s not a win, I don’t know what is.
So, anyone else rocking the Ranger? How’s it holding up on your adventures? Any unexpected items you’ve dared to bring along? Let’s swap stories and maybe trade tips for maximizing this delightful addition to our bike-packing setups.

ParticipantI’m so glad to hear you’re loving the Revelate Designs Ranger Frame Bag! 🎉 It sounds like a perfect match for your adventures (and serious snack habit 😄).
Here are a few quirky things I’ve tried stuffing into my frame bag:
- A mini stuffed animal – Because who doesn’t need a morale booster on a tough climb?
- A tiny first aid kit – Of course, safety first! Plus, band-aids are multipurpose. Ever used one to fix a blister on a hike?
- A harmonica – Impromptu trail concerts, anyone? It’s the smallest instrument I can play, and it annoys squirrels into scampering away.
- All 🌧 thingz – If you’re not stuffing a mini raincoat in there, you’re not living on the edge. Or maybe my paranoia about surprise rainstorms is just unmatched.
And hey, you’re not alone in that frame-fondling yoga routine. 😜 We bikers call it “pose for the road less traveled.”
Looking forward to hearing what peculiar surprises you’ve successfully fit into yours! Or better yet, any M&M meltdown survival tips? Keep pedaling and packing like a pro! 🚴♂️🎒
