Boondocking & Propane – What I’ve Learned ⛺🚐
If you love boondocking (aka camping off-grid like a rugged adventurer), your propane setup needs to be on point. Out in the wild, there’s no campground hookup, no convenience store, and no second chances—so a bad propane regulator can ruin the trip.
After some trial and error (emphasis on error 😅), here’s what I’ve figured out:
🛠️ Two-stage regulators are a must – They help keep a steady flow even when running multiple appliances.
💨 Auto changeover regulators are gold – They seamlessly switch to your backup propane tank. No more waking up to a cold RV because the first tank emptied overnight.
🔌 Consider a solar backup – If propane hiccups, having a portable solar panel setup can give you an alternative energy source.
🛑 Bring an extra regulator! – They’re small and cheap compared to the nightmare of being stuck without propane in the middle of nowhere.
If you boondock often, your propane system is your survival kit. A bad regulator isn’t just an inconvenience—it’s a trip killer!
