Summit Soul
ParticipantHey fellow climbers and mountaineers!
So, I recently took the plunge and invested in the Black Diamond Solution Harness, and I thought I’d share my musings (and minor mishaps) with all of you in the hope that others will chime in with their own experiences too.
Firstly, let me tell you, the moment I strapped into this harness for the first time, I felt like I had just put on a superhero suit. The fit was so snug, it was as if the universe had custom-made it for my awkwardly proportioned body. It’s like wearing a hug—if hugs could save your life!
Here’s a little breakdown of my thoughts:
- Comfort: The Fusion Comfort Technology is no joke. The harness distributes weight so evenly that during my first hang-dogging session, I almost forgot I was doing my best impression of a sloth dangling from a tree. I actually caught myself humming while stuck mid-route, much to the dismay of my less-than-patient belayer.
- Durability: I haven’t personally taken any epic whippers (yet), but it’s held up well under my “enthusiastic” approach to climbing. I’d love to hear how it’s held up for those of you who climb harder and fall bigger than I do.
- Features: Four gear loops may sound like the world is my oyster, but I’m still trying to figure out how not to get my nut tool tangled with literally everything else. Does anyone have any genius gear organizing tips? Asking for a friend.
- Style: I went with the Deep Azul—because if I’m face-first into the rock, at least my behind will look fabulous! Who knew fashion would play a part in hanging from a cliff face?
Overall, I’m quite smitten with this harness, but I’d love to know what everyone else thinks. Has the Solution harness been your climbing soulmate, or has it dumped you halfway up a pitch? Any pros, cons, or hilarious blunders to share?
Let’s spill the carabiners and talk all things harness related!
Climb on, and don’t forget to double-check your knots!
