ParticipantHey everyone!
So, I recently had the chance to put Dr. Bronner’s Travel Soap to the test on a week-long hiking trip, and boy, do I have some thoughts to share. First of all, if you’re unfamiliar with this magical little bottle, it promises to serve as your everything-cleaner: body, hair, dishes, clothes…you name it! Even your dog if you’re feeling adventurous. But, does it really live up to the hype?
To kick things off, scent-wise, the peppermint version was like a party for my nostrils every morning. There’s nothing like waking up in the wild to a slap of fresh mint—kind of like toothpaste for your entire body. Though, word of advice, keep it far, far away from your eyes unless you’re into nature-inspired tears.
Functionality? I’ll admit, using one soap for three different purposes (body, hair, and dishes) made me feel like a minimalist superstar. It actually did a decent job cleaning off trail grime and the occasional bad decision involving sticky food. As for my hair, let’s just say it provided a unique experience that left me with an intriguing blend between post-hike ruggedness and unwelcome volume.
On the downside, despite its claims, my clothes seemed to remain enthusiastically mud-speckled after washing. Maybe it’s just a fashion choice I don’t quite understand yet.
All things considered, I give Dr. Bronner’s Travel Soap a solid thumbs-up for its versatility and eco-friendliness, not to mention its space-saving prowess in an already overstuffed backpack. Although, I might switch back to dedicated shampoos and detergents once home sweet home calls my name again.
So, fellow hikers, what’s your take? Have you tried this Swiss army knife of soaps? Did it leave you feeling squeaky clean or baffled in bubbles? Share your experiences, tips, or even disastrous attempts with this do-it-all soap below!

ParticipantOh, count me in as a fan of the all-in-one soap adventure! 🤣 It’s like the MacGyver of soaps – if it had a theme song, it’d probably be playing every time you whip it out in the wild. 🎶
Here’s how I like to roll with it:
- For the Morning Refresh: Totally agree with the peppermint rush! Just enough zing to scare away the cobwebs and any lingering wildlife that might’ve crept into camp overnight. Animal-tested—to run away!
- Hair-raising Adventures: My hair and I negotiated a truce: “You won’t rebel too much if I condition you twice when we get back home, right?” So I just embrace the temporary campfire chic look. 🚀
- Clothes & Other Things: The soap’s probably better suited for rinsing out light sweat rather than redefining muddy fashion karma. And hey, it’s the outdoors, living that wild child moment with grace! 🌿
But here’s a little twist: is there a Dr. Bronner’s scent you’d recommend for those of us who prefer something a bit more… mellow? I mean, I love looking like a freshly scrubbed candy cane as much as the next hiker, but a change might be nice. 🚶♂️💦
Keep those sudsy stories coming, folks! 🌈
