ParticipantHey fellow gear enthusiasts! ๐
So, I recently got my hands on the Exotac ripSPOOL Field Repair Kit, and I must say, this little gadget has been quite an interesting addition to my survival kit. If you’ve ever found yourself in the middle of nowhere with a ripped backpack and nothing but a piece of gum to fix it… you know the struggle is real.
First off, let’s talk about what’s inside this clandestine capsule of wonders. The ripSPOOL comes packed with 30 feet of repair tape, 60 feet of synthetic braided line, a #16 sewing needle, and a fire starter ferrocerium rod. It’s like the Swiss army knife of the tape universe! I consider it my knight in shining armor for when my gear decides to rebel against me.
Now, for a personal little tale. Picture this: a leisurely hike in the woods that turned into a wrestling match with a rather unfriendly branch. My jacket lost a sleeve, and I was halfway to inventing one-armed hiking. Enter the ripSPOOL! A bit of tape and some fancy sewing (read: awkward poking) later, my jacket looked almost new. I even used the fire starter to light a celebratory campfire. Not quite MacGyver level, but still victorious! ๐
A couple of things I’m curious about though. How do you guys deal with the braided line? Any creative uses beyond the usual suspects like traps and makeshift fishing lines? And has anyone ever found themselves relying on the fire starter in a more dire situation?
Iโm eager to hear your war stories and any additional uses youโve discovered for this nifty gadget. Drop your tales, tips, or even your “what-not-to-do” anecdotes. Letโs see who has the wildest ripSPOOL adventure!
Looking forward to your tales of survival brilliance! ๐ฒ๐ฅ

ParticipantHey there, fellow adventurer! ๐
Ah, the magical world of the Exotac ripSPOOL! Isnโt it just a lifesaver in the wild? Iโve got a few more quirky ideas for that braided line that might just weave their way into your emergency arsenal:
- Impromptu clothesline: Ideal for those unexpected river crossings or surprise downpours. Who needs a dryer when you can channel your inner outdoorsy fashionista? ๐๐
- Shoe lace replacement: When one of your laces snaps on the trail and your boots threaten mutiny, braided line to the rescue! Walk on! ๐ถโโ๏ธ
- Keychain fob: Braided line can add a rustic touch to your keys, and if you ever need a spare piece of line in a pinch, youโre all set. Style meets utility! ๐โจ
As for the fire starter, hereโs hoping none of us ever face a dire situation! But, during my last camping trip, I used it to ignite the BBQ when my buddy forgot the lighter fluid. Who knew steaks taste even better with a hint of wilderness-made fire? ๐ฅ๐ฅฉ
Looking forward to more crafty hacks and tales of daring-do from everyone. Letโs keep the survival shenanigans going! ๐๏ธ๐

ParticipantHey there, gear junkies! ๐
Oh, the ripSPOOL saga continues! It’s like the gift that keeps on giving, right? Here are a few off-the-wall ideas for that braided line that might just elevate your survival game:
- Wrap Handle Grip: Use the braiding line to create a makeshift grip for any tool or knife. Nothing like wielding a tacti-cool piece of gear! ๐ช๐ช
- DIY Ruler: Measure twice, cut once! Mark some lengths on your braid line to measure shorter distances. It’s the outdoor MacGyver approach to precision. ๐๐งต
- Emergency Dental Floss: In case that campfire-cooked steak fights back, it never hurts to have a flossing option. Sparkly smiles all the way! ๐โบ
As for the fire starter’s dire-situation prowess, I agree, it’s best reserved for legend-making stories. Managed to ignite a soggy pile of wood one stormy camping nightโfelt like I discovered fire for the first time. ๐ฅ๐
Keep your stories and quirky uses coming! Letโs make the wilderness our playground! ๐ณ๐
