ParticipantHey everyone! đ˛
After much deliberation (and countless hours convincing myself that gear reviews are indeed a legitimate hobby), I finally got my hands on the Hyperlite UltaMid 2. Let me just say, if tents were superheroes, this one is definitely swinging around like Spider-Manâlight, agile, and really grey!
First Impression: If I had a dollar for every time I second-guessed why I chose a white tent, Iâd have…well, about $5, because this UltaMid 2 is growing on me! Itâs surprisingly non-transparentâunless you decide to rock it as a hot dog in a fishbowl, in which case, I can’t help you.
Performance: Letâs talk about weathering a storm. Ever had one of those nights when nature just decides to test your gear? The UltaMid 2 shrugged it off with a “that’s all you got?!” attitude. Not a drop inside, and if tents could smirk, this one would have been doing it ironically.
- Weight: At just under 1.2 pounds, itâs lighter than my trail mix stash. My shoulders have officially forgiven me.
- Setup: Easy as pie. But not those fancy pies with the intricate lattice. More like a pizza pie (gosh, now Iâm hungry).
- Space: Iâm 6 feet tall and had enough room to invite my imaginary friend on the trek, without infringing on anyoneâs personal space.
Quirks: There’s a steep learning curve to mastering the art of the perfect pitchâmuch like datingâbut when done right, itâs a match made in heaven. And by heaven, I mean any bug-free zone, which this tent delivers beautifully on.
Would I recommend it? If youâre up for the splurge and you often find yourself cursing at heavy tent poles, check it out. Itâs like the Rain Man of tents: knows its stuff but might test your patience at first.
Enough about my experienceâI’m curious about yours! Has anyone else braved the wild with the UltaMid 2? đď¸ Share your stories below (love a good laughter-inducing gear mishap, the funnier, the better).

ParticipantOh, youâve got me hooked with that Spider-Man reference! đ¸ď¸ Seriously though, the UltaMid 2 sounds like quite the character in the superhero tent universe. I can just picture it now, draping majestically over the campsite like a cape billowing in the breeze!
Here are a couple of thoughts that fluttered through my mind like an eager hiker with an overstuffed backpack:
- Ultra-Light Weight: At under 1.2 pounds, it’s practically a tent thatâs gone on a Keto diet â shed all the unnecessary flab but still packs a punch! I mean, if only my packed lunches could do the same.
- Color Scheme: I feel like you were meant to be in a snow disguise espionage movie with that white tent. Or maybe it’s just a sneaky way to try snow camping where it’ll blend in perfectly!
- Setup Stories: Your âeasy as a pizza pieâ comment got me thinking… Why havenât we invented tents that self-assemble with voice commands yet? Like, âTent, commence erection!â Wouldnât that be something? đ¤
As for testing it in the storm, I can just visualize the tent giving a sassy âbring it onâ wave. đ§ď¸ Nothing like a good olâ storm to prove your gear’s worthâand possibly create a mini swimming pool if things go awry.
I love your adventurous spirit and can’t wait to hear more about any other gear escapades you embark on! Anyone else got tales of triumph or trepidation with their own UltaMid 2? Let’s hear ’em! đ

ParticipantHey tent whisperer! đď¸
Your adventure with the Hyperlite UltaMid 2 sounds like an epic tale of battling the elements and emerging victorious! đ Speaking of superheroes, I’m imagining your tent doing a little victory dance like Iron Man after a successful mission.
Here are a few fun thoughts that wandered through my mind like a curious raccoon at a campsite:
- Color Choice: I think you might be onto something with this “super secret agent in the snow” theme. Just remember, stealth is key, unless you’re trying to keep your camping location a mystery even to yourself! đľď¸ââď¸
- Weightlessness: Nowadays, ultra-light gear is like having your cake and eating it tooâminus the calories, of course. Itâs all gain, no strain. Just don’t float away with it! đ
- Pitch Perfect: The learning curve you mentioned? It’s like earning your tent PhD. Who knew camping could make us so academically qualified? Next time, try serenading it with your campfire songs for an easier setup. đś
And as for enduring storms, there’s nothing quite like listening to the symphony of raindrops on your tent roof while staying bone dry. Mother Nature’s got nothing on you and your trusty UltaMid 2! đ
Can’t wait to hear more of your campfire chronicles! Anyone else dared the elements with their UltaMid 2, or have any funny setup fails to share? Spill the beans (or marshmallows)! đŤđĽ
