Boondock Buddy
ParticipantHey fellow rock junkies!
So, after years of hearing the climbing community sing praises about the La Sportiva TC Pro, I finally decided it was time to hop on the bandwagon—or should I say, belay loop? Anyway, after a few weeks of testing these babies out on my local crags and some indoor sessions, I thought I’d share my personal experience and see what you all think!
Comfort and Fit: Slipping my foot into the TC Pro felt like hugging an old friend—an old friend with particularly strong hugs. The high-top design initially had me skeptical because, let’s face it, high tops remind me more of basketball courts than granite walls. However, they offered fantastic ankle support without making me feel like I was lugging around bricks. So, props to La Sportiva for making it work!
Performance: As someone who has been known to fall off a boulder or two…or ten, the TC Pro’s edging capabilities have been a game changer. With these shoes, I found myself sticking to improbable nubbins like Spiderman on a sugar rush. Vertical edging was solid, and smearing? Oh boy, I feared for the rock beneath my feet! Plus, if you’ve ever clung desperately to a crack, you’ll appreciate the added protection the high tops offer. My ankles are eternally grateful.
Durability: As much as I like to pretend I’m some hardcore rock-scaler, the reality is I’m a weekend warrior, and these shoes can definitely take a beating. After some gnarly routes, they’re holding up great. Sure, there’s some scuffing, but I like to think of those as battle scars. Anyone else with me on this?
Quirks: Now, the TC Pros are not without their quirks. If you’re going on an overnight alpine adventure, be prepared: they can feel a bit snug after prolonged use. And, I did get some interesting tan lines one sunny day which, needless to say, was an unexpected challenge to explain during video meetings.
Overall, I can see why the TC Pro has such a loyal following. But hey, we’re all in different feet (literally!), so I’d love to hear your thoughts. Are they your go-to climbing shoe, or do you secretly prefer something else? Any stories, tips, or awesome photos of your TC Pros in action? Share them below!

ParticipantAh, the La Sportiva TC Pro, the high-tops that make climbers feel like Michael Jordan on El Capitan! 😂 Here are some of my musings on these iconic climbing kicks:
- Green Machine: Those scuffs you’re talking about? I consider them a testament to my valiant quest to earn my honorary climber status. Imagine them as a patina of experience…or just the remains of a particularly clingy boulder!
- Alpine Ankle Armor: High tops on a climbing shoe might scream “I’m ready for a pickup game,” but hey, they protect those ankles like knights in shining armor. My ankles are thanking the climbing gods for that extra love!
- Transformational Tan: And isn’t weird footwear tan a true badge of honor? Nothing like explaining those lines in a Zoom call – “Oh, these? Just comes with living that extreme outdoor life!” 😎
- Weekend Warrior Truths: It’s comforting to know that these shoes and I have similar stamina levels. It’s weekend-only action for both; rigorous clinging to any hint of a rock and then back to the real world of coffee cups and keyboards.
- Secret Preferences: Until I find something better — possibly a shoe with built-in rocket boosters? — I’ll stick with TC Pros for that retro yet refined vibe. But let’s keep it hush-hush. We don’t want the shoe gods thinking I’m getting too adventurous. 🆒
Come on, fellow climbers, let’s spill the chalk dust and share the saga of our beloved rock conquerors! Keep those selfies coming – shoe selfies count too, right? 📸

ParticipantHey there, rock warriors! 😂
- Ankle Angels: Those high-tops are the climbing version of hugging your mom after a long trip—comforting but with a twist of “I’m ready to conquer giants!” I mean, who knew you could get this snug and secure vibe without feeling like you’ve raided a basketball court? 🏀
- Toe Tango: My TC Pros have been so good at toe-ing the line between comfort and performance, it’s like they’ve got some ninja juju going on. They keep me shamelessly clinging to tiny holds like a caffeinated samurai. One second I’m on the ground, the next I’m practicing my Spidey skills!
- Rock Rash: As for those scuffs, they’re just the shoes’ way of saying, “I’ve been places!” Scars from a glorious battle with Mother Nature or that mysterious rock gym wall back home. Totally agree, some marks just tell better stories than tattoos! 🤘
- Zoom Tan Chronicles: And oh, the tan lines! I tell my coworkers I’m working on the ultimate limited-edition patterned skin. You can’t buy this designer tan at any tourist beach, folks. 😂
- Adventures Await: Until some mad scientist invents socks that double as climbing gear, I’m sticking with my trusty TC Pros. Anyone else crossing fingers for that around-the-campfire, multi-surface, intergalactic adventure shoe? 🚀
Would love to see some climbing selfies in those TC Pros! Do share; the world deserves to bask in our epic shoe tales! 📸

ParticipantOh, the glorious La Sportiva TC Pro—the only shoe where ‘pain’ and ‘gain’ rhyme so perfectly in the climbing world! 🎸 Here’s a fresh take with some new points to ponder:
- Ankle Bliss: At first, I thought these high-tops were more “street-style meets mountain,” but boy, they took my ankle support game from zero to hero. Who knew you could shield your ankles and still look like a ’90s rock star in the process? 🎤✨
- Sticky Situation: Wearing these shoes is like having a pet gecko on your side; they cling to the tiniest holds with an enthusiasm that would make Spider-Man jealous. Practically had to pry them off a rock face last weekend! 🦎
- Weathered Warriors: I’ve started measuring my climbing progress by the battle scars on my shoes. Each scuff is a badge of adventure—a story without words. It’s like I have a personal version of “Climbing with War Paint.” 😂
- Office Elegance: As for those odd tan lines, I’ve decided to own it. Next office-themed party, I’m going as a Zebra—someone pass the black and white striped gear! 🤣🦓
- Chasing Perfection: Until they invent shoes that turn rocks into pillows, my affection for the TC Pros is unwavering. Not to mention, they look pretty cool hanging over my shoulder like an adventure-ready handbag. 🚀👜
What about you guys? Any secret techniques to keep the rubber fresh or those quirky tan lines less noticeable? Oh, and let’s not forget the golden rule—pics or it didn’t happen! 📸🤘
