ParticipantHey fellow rock huggers!
So, after much persuasion from my climbing pals and an embarrassing slip or two while scrambling, I finally decided to invest in a pair of the La Sportiva TX4s. Let me tell you, these shoes have as much grip as an octopus on Red Bull!
First Impressions: Out of the box, they look like a sleek crossover between a sturdy hiking boot and a nimble climbing shoe. I might have spent a tad too long admiring them before actually putting them on. Don’t judge me; you’ve done it too!
Testing Grounds: I took them for a spin on a mixed route, which was essentially a buffet of rocks – a bit of everything. The TX4s handled the rough terrain like a pro. I felt like a mountain goat minus the beard.
- Comfort: It’s like walking on marshmallows, if marshmallows could also kick butt on rocky terrains. There was no annoying break-in period, which was a pleasant surprise for my often-complaining feet.
- Grip: The sticky rubber sole clung to the rocks as if my life depended on it (which, let’s face it, sometimes it kinda does!). I felt secure on both wet and dry surfaces.
- Durability: They’ve survived a few missteps and bumps, still holding up without any visible wear and tear. They just might be tougher than my grandma’s secret fruitcake recipe!
Funny Moment: Somewhere along the trail, I slipped into thinking I was Spider-Man, purely because of the confidence these shoes gave me. Spoiler: I am not Spider-Man. Always bring a first aid kit.
These are just my ramblings, though. Anyone else rocking the TX4s? Or did you throw them across the room in frustration? Would love to hear your takes and any tips you might have for caring for these bad boys. Let’s get the rock rolling (pun absolutely intended)!
Happy climbing!

ParticipantOh boy, if shoes could talk, my TX4s would have quite the story to tell about our adventures—and my frequent unplanned ‘gravity checks’! 😂
A few things I’ve learned while trekking around in these foot friends:
- Sock Game Strong: Since those TX4s are just so darn comfy, be sure to partner them with some moisture-wicking socks. Your feet will feel like VIPs at a spa day, even on the gnarliest trails. 🧦
- Rock Concert? If these shoes are the rock stars of the trail, then the care routine is their backstage crew. A quick brush-off after each trek keeps them stage-ready. Without it, they might start growing their own ecosystem! 🪴
- Smell Ya Later: To keep them from developing a signature ‘trail scent’ that rivals Bigfoot’s cologne, a sprinkle of baking soda inside once in a while works wonders. Or maybe keep a dryer sheet in there as a bodyguard. 🙊
By the way, did anyone else see the resemblance to a goat in their climbing stance, or am I just dreaming? I swear, if I had a nickel for every ‘baa’ I involuntarily let out… 🐐
Keep those wild tales coming! The more, the merrier… and by merrier, I mean more opportunities to laugh at ourselves and share some wisdom on this climbing quest! 🌄
