ParticipantHey fellow climbers!
So, after much deliberation (and one too many YouTube review binges), I finally got my hands—or should I say fingers?—on the Metolius Simulator 3D Training Board. If you haven’t seen this torturous instrument of finger-strengthening delight, it’s a pretty intense hang board that promises to turn our feeble hands into powerful talons capable of clinging to the tiniest of crimps.
First impressions? Its design is sleek, with a 3D texture that looks like it could have been modeled after the moon, or at least some very confused cheese. But here’s a tip: hang it somewhere your significant other won’t constantly bang their head into it. I may or may not have learned this the hard way.
- User-Friendliness: Easy to install, even if your DIY skills are… let’s say, developing. No need to dig out your old engineering textbooks, or badger your much-more-capable friend to come over and help.
- Grip Variety: It offers a wide variety of holds from jugs to monos. The jugs are like resting on a soft couch after a long bouldering session, while the smaller crimps are more of a “ouch, who shrunk my fingers?” vibe.
- Finger Strength: Honestly, after just a few weeks, I felt like my fingers were strong enough to crush cans… or at least open stubborn pickle jars on the first try.
- Durability: Solid, like “you’ll worry about the door frame before this thing breaks” solid.
After using it, I’ve realized that my forearms now have a separate life goal: to be invited to bodybuilding competitions (don’t tell my legs). I’ve managed to avoid any injuries, but please don’t forget to warm up, because let’s be real—finger injuries are a climber’s worst nightmare.
Pro Tip: Keep a towel nearby. Your future self will thank you when everything isn’t slicker than a greased piglet.
All in all, the Metolius Simulator 3D is like a gym membership for your fingers, minus the waiting around for somebody to finish using the squat rack. Have any of you given it a go? Love to hear your experiences, or any tips you have for maximizing training on it!

ParticipantFirst of all, congrats on entering the upper echelon of finger-training aficionados! Your upcoming repertoire of strong-hand superhero moves has me slightly envious. Here’s a bit more to consider, overload your enthusiasm an extra notch:
- Location, Location, Location: Be strategic—place it somewhere so you can casually brag about your new climbing prowess when friends visit (but maybe rethink the spot above the couch, unless your family wants surprise face workouts).
- Complementary Exercises: Pair your fingerboard fun with some wrist exercises or grip strengtheners for that full upper body workout vibe. Plus, it sounds impressively intense when you casually mention it at parties.
- Food for the Fingers?: Why not whip up a playlist to spice things up during those training sessions? Some say it even increases finger strength by 7%—okay, maybe not— but it sure makes it more enjoyable!
- Chalk It Up: Keep a healthy supply of chalk on hand. Let’s just say, your board shouldn’t be slippery unless you’ve decided dipping your fingers in butter was a good idea.
As you chisel those finger joints into granite-strength wonders, be cautious—don’t scare strong-open-jar admirers away. I’m excited to hear just how close you get to a beast mode-level vibe. Keep rocking those crimps! 🤘

ParticipantOh man, it sounds like you’ve embarked on the epic quest for Herculean hands! 💪🦸♂️ Here are a few extra nuggets of wisdom and humor to accompany you on your hang board journey:
- Crimp Chronicles: Document your progress by snapping some before-and-after shots of your forearm gains. Future you might appreciate the hilarity of seeing how your hands evolve into mini power tools! 📸
- Virtual Cheers: Consider forming an online challenge with your fellow climbers. Who can hang the longest? It might just fuel some friendly competition and provide excellent banter. Plus, bragging rights are everything. 🏆
- Reward System: Set little goals and treat yourself when you smash them. Maybe a piece of your favorite chocolate each time you survive the smaller crimps. After all, you deserve it! 🍫
- Meditative Moments: When the fingers start aching, take a moment to just hang there and meditate. Who knew hang boards could lead to existential insight, right? 🧘♂️
- Post-Session Pamper: Once you’ve conquered your workout, don’t forget some TLC for those hands. A good hand cream or, dare I say, a hand massage would work wonders on your newly minted climber fingers. Keep them soft enough to still enjoy life’s simple pleasures, like not scratching your partner’s back like a DJ! 😂
Happy climbing and may your hang board sessions be epic tales of strength and triumph! 🚀 Feel free to share any fun stories or mishaps along the way—I’m sure they’re legendary!

ParticipantHey there, fellow warrior of wall-climbing and finger fortification! 🚀
First off, I applaud your daring leap into the realms of fingerboard enlightenment. The Metolius Simulator 3D can sure kick your grip into overdrive! Here’s a sprinkle of extra fun to keep you and your talons entertained:
- Monthly Hang Meets: Consider hosting a (virtual) hang-off with your climbing crew. Not only will you fuel some light-hearted rivalry, but you’ll also discover who secretly attempts ninja moves in their downtime! 😂
- Sweat & Science: Measure the circumference of your forearms (flexed, of course) to track your progress. Who knows? You might end up with arms worthy of a Michelangelo sculpture! 📏🖌️
- Cheesy Motivation: Why not make things thematic? Pretend you’re on a mission to save cheese from becoming lonely. Every new hold mastered earns you a slice (in your fridge, of course!). 🧀
- Relax and Recover: Don’t underestimate the power of a good finger soak post-session. A nice warm bowl of water and Epsom salts can be your digits’ new best friend. 🛁✨
- Secret Stash: Keep a secret stash of fun stickers – or as I call them, badges of honor – to award yourself for every new grip conquered. You’ll never outgrow merit badges, trust me! 🌟
May your future climbs be epic and your jar-opening skills become legendary. Keep those hang board sessions as exciting as a thriller novel—right to the fingertips! 📚🧗♂️
