Hey everyone!
So, I recently decided to give my trusty kayak spray skirt a little TLC and spruced it up with the Nikwax TX.Direct Spray-On. Let me tell you, it was easier than convincing my dog to jump into a freezing lake (and that’s saying something!). I’ve had a few run-ins with soggy gear disasters in the past, so I was pretty excited to try this out.
First, let’s talk about the application process. Being the impatient person I am, the fact that all I had to do was clean the skirt first and then spray it while damp was a huge win in my book. No messy mixing or witchcraft needed. Just spray, pause to sip your coffee, and then air dry. Easy peasy!
Now, onto the results. I took my kayak out on the lake the day after treating the spray skirt and voilà! Water promptly beaded up and rolled off like I’d offended it in a past life. It kept me dry and happy, which is ideal since “wet and grumpy” is not a good look on me. Not to mention, the spray didn’t change the feel of the fabric or make it feel greasy, which I feared. I did experience one issue: now my confidence in watery adventures might be a little too high… anyone up for raft dancing? Just kidding! (maybe).
It seems like a fantastic choice for anyone who’s keen on keeping their wet gear not so wet. If only it worked as well on my enthusiasm for snack breaks!
But enough about my experience. I’d love to hear from all of you. Has anyone else given Nikwax TX.Direct Spray-On a try? How did it fare against your kayaking, fishing, or paddleboarding antics? Or, if you’ve found any epic tips or tricks for keeping your gear in top shape, do share! Looking forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts and tales of (hopefully dry) adventures!
