Hey fellow rock wranglers and summit seekers!
So, I’ve been putting the Rab Guide 2 GTX Gloves through their paces over the last month, and I thought I’d pop on here to share the deets.
First off, let me say that these gloves might actually have been spun from the wool of mythical climbing goats. Slipping them on feels a bit like shaking hands with a cloud, assuming that cloud is both waterproof and makes you climb better.
Warmth: I tested these in temps that would make a penguin consider migrating, and my fingers were toasty. No frost nibbles in sight, which for me is a minor miracle. I’ve got the circulation of a reptile.
Dexterity: Now here’s the part that had me jazzed. They offer solid dexterity for gripping onto jagged rocks or for that critical moment when you need to quickly stuff snacks into your face. Some gloves make you feel like you’re trying to thread a needle with oven mitts, but not these bad boys.
Fit and Feel: The fit is snug without being restrictive – it’s like a firm handshake with your grandfather, who also happens to be an accomplished mountaineer.
Water Resistance: Picture this: halfway up an ice-slicked peak, the heavens open up (because of course, they do). The Guide 2 GTX Gloves laughed in the face of the storm, and my hands stayed dry as a bone.
Admittedly, there’s always a chance that my dog is going to steal them because apparently, they also double as the most desirable chew toy in existence. Not to mention, they can be a bit on the pricey side.
Anyway, I’d love to hear from you folks! Has anyone else taken these gloves out for a spin, or battled the elements with other gloves? Let’s share the warmth, wisdom, and possibly blisters.
