Hey fellow hikers and outdoor enthusiasts!
So, I finally got around to testing the Sawyer Picaridin Insect Repellent on my last expedition into the great wilderness, and I could say it was a buzz-worthy experience—pun intended. 😊
My relationship with mosquitoes is complicated, to say the least. I seem to attract them like a moth to a flame. But I decided to give Sawyer Picaridin a whirl and here’s how that adventure unfolded.
First off, it boasts a 20% picaridin formula, which is supposed to ward off not just mosquitoes, but also ticks, flies, fleas, and even those pesky chiggers. I felt like I was gearing up for war with Mother Nature’s tiniest battalion. I sprayed it on all the usual hotspots—wrists, neck, ankles—and also, for good measure, did an impromptu interpretive dance just to make sure I didn’t miss any spots. My hike lasted about 6 hours and, let me tell ya, I wasn’t bitten once! It felt like I had cast some “thou shall not bite” spell which, frankly, was quite empowering.
The spray itself is non-greasy, and honestly, it didn’t have that typical repellant smell we all grudgingly endure. Instead, it was faintly citrusy and fresh—like sunscreen had a spa day.
As for the downsides, there was one minor hiccup. I accidentally got some in my eyes (rookie mistake), and it was like entering the fiery depths of Mordor. For a couple of minutes, my peaceful hike turned into a scene from a slapstick comedy, so be gentle around the face area, folks.
In conclusion, I’m pretty satisfied. Sawyer Picaridin earned a spot in my hiking essentials. But what about you guys? Has anyone else given this repellant a try? I’d love to hear your stories—funny mishaps and all! Any alternate products you’ve found success with? Let’s share those field-tested secrets!
Looking forward to your replies and more bite-free hikes! 🐜👟
