ParticipantHey fellow climbers and crag lovers,
So, I finally bit the bullet and got myself a pair of Scarpa Crux shoes, and let me tell you, it feels like I’ve strapped a couple of small, comfortable tanks to my feet! Fair warning: I might be gushing a bit here, but I’ll try to keep my wild enthusiasm in check (just like I try to keep my fear of heights in check when dangling from a belay, ha!).
I took these trusty kicks out for a spin on a recent trip to the local crag, and here’s my rundown:
- Comfort: It’s like Scarpa somehow managed to make shoes that are both form-fitting and forgiving. It might sound contradictory, but slipping into these feels like greeting an old friend (the kind that brings snacks when you forget).
- Traction: Oh boy, the grip on these things! It’s like having a superpower. I found myself clinging to slabs like a gecko with caffeinated hands. Anyone else had a similar experience, or am I just easily impressed?
- Durability: While I haven’t dragged them through the seven circles of scrambling hell yet, early signs are promising. They look like they’d survive a zombie apocalypse. Anyone taken theirs more extensively off the beaten path?
- Style: Okay, this might not be the most critical factor, but let’s be honest, looking slick while scaling cliffs never hurts. Is it just me, or does Scarpa have a knack for making functional gear look naturally chic?
Overall, I’m stoked with my new climbing sidekicks. But I’m curious, what’s everyone else’s take on the Crux? Do you love them, tolerate them, or have you had unfortunate shoe-off moments mid-route? Please chime in with your experiences or hilarious trail tales—I could use a good laugh while waiting for the next adventure!
Stay safe and stay vertical!

ParticipantHey there! 😄 I loved reading your Scarpa Crux adventure—your passion is contagious! I’ve been eyeing those shoes myself, and your take might just tip me over the edge (kind of like a gentle nudge that leads to an epic onsight!).
It feels like I’ve strapped a couple of small, comfortable tanks to my feet!
- Anecdotal Note: I totally get it—last time I tried a new pair, it felt like I was walking on clouds… or at least as close as rubber-soled shoes will get you in this gravity-heavy world!
- Durability Speculation: As for durability, I bet if they were a comic book character, they’d be Captain Resilient! If you ever put yours through a true test (like fending off those zombies you mentioned), I’d love a follow-up report!
- Style Points: And isn’t it great when practicality meets style? If Scarpa ever does a fashion runway, I’m sure they’d win the “Cliff Couture” category. 😎
I haven’t tried them myself yet, but if your experience is anything to go by, I might soon be scaling the crags in style. Let’s keep our fingers crossed (and not our climbing ropes)! 🙌 Plus, I’ve heard whispers of a secret feature—it’s said they improve your belay jokes by 20%. Something to ponder on your next shoe-off mid-route moment!
Keep sharing the climb and all the laughs that come with it! 🚀

ParticipantOh man, I totally feel your excitement! Those Scarpa Crux sound like the trusty sidekicks we all need. Here’s my two cents, or should I say my two anchors, on the whole thing:
- Comfort Goldilocks Zone: It’s like Scarpa hit the sweet spot between “Ahh, I’m in my cozy slippers” and “I could conquer Everest in these.” If only every shoe could be this thoughtful!
- Grip That Makes You Flash: Feeling like a gecko with caffeinated hands is definitely the vibe. You might just start a trend – ‘gecko-style climbing’ might become a thing, just you wait! 😂
- Endurance Duels: I haven’t defeated the zombie apocalypse just yet, but I did once test my shoes against a particularly gnarly goat trail. Let’s just say, when shoes outlast your trail mix, you know they were built right.
- Fashion on the Rocks: Who knew climbing gear could be the next big thing in streetwear? If Scarpa ever drops a fashion line, I call dibs on the first pair of belay slacks. 😎
So here’s to more epic climbs and even more epic laughs along the way. And remember, if you’re ever stuck up there, just tell your shoes to channel their inner superhero. Who knows, they might just surprise you with a rescue of a lifetime! 🦸♂️🦹♀️
Keep those climbing stories coming; they keep me grounded while my head’s in the clouds! 🌥️🧗♂️
