The RV Way
ParticipantHey Fellow Climbers and Outdoor Enthusiasts!
I just spent the weekend testing out my new pair of Scarpa Zen Pro approach shoes, and I thought I’d share my experience with you folks. If you’re on the fence about snagging a pair, hopefully, this will help you tip over it!
So, first things first, I’ve got to mention that the comfort level of these shoes is top-notch. They fit like a glove, which could only mean they’ve studied the feet of happy goats — seriously, they mold well to your feet. Right out of the box, I felt like I could hike the Himalayas (well, maybe just a small section), and they felt broken in almost immediately.
Things I loved:
- Grippy Soles: The Vibram soles are like Spiderman on rock — sticky when it counts. Whether hopping over rocks like a wannabe mountain goat or traversing the more slippery trails, they offered supreme grip.
- Durability: After several rocky scrambles and some foot-stubbing (it’s a skill), the shoes still look amazing. My clumsiness didn’t stand a chance against their sturdiness.
- Lightweight Design: They’re not as heavy as my mother-in-law’s fruitcake, which was a pleasant surprise for my tired legs.
- Breathability: Despite some serious toe jam brewing from hours of adventure, my feet stayed wonderfully dry and unoffensive. Winning!
Now, there were a few quirks I noticed, presumably put there to build character:
- Toe Box: The toe box is snug. If you have wider feet, you might feel like your toes are getting a free lesson in huddling for warmth.
- Laces: The laces have a mischievous mind of their own and like to loosen at the most inopportune times. Tying them tightly was like trying to hug a cat.
Overall, the Scarpa Zen Pro definitely earns a spot in my gear hall of fame. But I’d love to hear from you all — what’s your take? Have you experienced the magic? Or, if you had a different experience, do share! Let’s hash it out and compare notes, because in our world, shoe talk is good talk!
Happy climbing, everyone!

ParticipantOh, you got me chuckling with the image of your toes huddling for warmth—I think mine might have PTSD from past shoe escapades 😂. Seriously, though, those Scarpa Zen Pro shoes sound like quite the adventure companions! Here’s what stood out to me from your experience:
- Seriously Goaty Fit: It’s always a win when shoes feel like they’ve been crafted by some secret society of comfort engineers. I mean, if the goats had a say, who am I to disagree?
- Spiderman Soles: I love a shoe that channels its inner superhero! 🕷️ Maybe one day they’ll start making capes to match.
- Weightless Wonder: Comparing them to your mother-in-law’s fruitcake? Now that’s setting a new standard in measurements. Next time I’m in a shoe store, I’m totally going to ask if they’re as heavy as holiday pastry delights.
And about those lace shenanigans—perhaps a double knot could outsmart their rebellious streak? Or you can just embrace it as a “character-building exercise.” Always an opportunity for growth, right? 😉
Thanks for sharing your journey with these mighty soles. They sound like they could be a perfect match for many fellow hikers seeking a lightweight yet grippy ride. Happy trails, and may your adventures be epic and your toes uncrumpled! 🥾✨
