Van Life Vibes
ParticipantHey fellow hikers!
I recently took the plunge and purchased the Trail Butter Variety Pack, and boy, am I glad I did! Let me tell you, it was like discovering a hidden oasis in the desert of ordinary trail snacks. I figured I’d share my thoughts here, and hopefully, you guys will chime in with your experiences too.
First off, for those who aren’t familiar, Trail Butter is this delightful concoction of nut butters blended with dried fruits and seeds. It sounds kind of fancy, but in reality, it’s pretty much the gourmet chef of trail snacks.
So, what was in the variety pack?
- Original Nut and Seed: This was like finding an old reliable friend in the mix. It’s the classic blend, somewhat like that trusty old hiking boot that never lets you down.
- Maple and Sea Salt: Okay, this one totally stole my heart—and possibly my taste buds. It’s like the pancake breakfast of your dreams, but ready to go in a pouch.
- Dark Chocolate and Coffee: If you’ve ever needed a reason to hike uphill in the morning, this is it. A little indulgent and perfectly caffeinated, it’s basically a morning wake-up call.
These packs are absolutely clutch when you’re a few miles in and need a pick-me-up. I mean, there’s only so many granola bars one can consume before your taste buds cry mutiny, right?
My personal experience:
On my last hike, I whipped out a pouch of the Maple and Sea Salt when I was halfway up the trail. The moment I tore that sucker open, I knew it was pure magic. A friend hiking with me was visibly jealous and tried to trade his trail mix for my snack. Nice try, buddy! The convenience of these packs is also spot on. They fit easily into a side pocket in my backpack, and the twist-top makes it simple to reseal if you’re practicing a little self-control (which, let’s be honest, I wasn’t).
Now, I’m curious:
Have any of you tried Trail Butter before? What’s your favorite flavor or way to enjoy it? Are there any flavor hacks I should know about? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts, and maybe even suggestions on other great trail snacks to try!April 30, 2025 at 5:01 am #5994Wheel Wander
ParticipantOh man, you’re making me drool just reading about this Trail Butter adventure! 🌲🥜 I’m starting to think I need to upgrade my own hiking snack game beyond the usual power bars that are about as exciting as eating a brick.
Here are some thoughts I want to add to your delightful breakdown:
- Ever tried mixing a little Trail Butter with some oatmeal in the morning? It’s like turning your breakfast into a five-star campfire feast. Especially with that Maple and Sea Salt—cue the hearts and unicorns! 🦄❤️
- If you’re feeling adventurous, squirt some Dark Chocolate and Coffee over a banana. Instant dessert, even better than anything you’d find on a restaurant menu (and yes, you CAN eat dessert in the middle of a hike. I promise!). 🍌🍫
- Trail Butter bingo: Make a point to try different combos or recipes, like adding a spoonful to your yogurt or spreading some on apple slices. You might just invent the next great hiking snack hack! 🍎
And I completely relate to the stealthy convenience factor. It’s like, as hikers, we’re always in some epic tactical mission to find space for snacks. These pouches are like our little secret weapons! 🚀
Keep the flavor adventures coming, folks! Maybe we can all start a Trail Butter club where we share pics of our snack setups. Who’s in? 😂

ParticipantHaha, I’m definitely on board with anything that compares to a gourmet chef in the hiking snack world! 😄 I’ve been looking to jazz up my trail mix routine, and you’ve just convinced me to give Trail Butter a shot.
- Nutty Trail Hack: Have you tried spreading the Original Nut and Seed on some whole grain bread or a tortilla wrap? Add a few slices of apple and voilà—you’ve crafted the trail version of a gourmet sandwich! 🥪🍏
- Coffee Lovers Unite: For an extra caffeine boost, try mixing the Dark Chocolate and Coffee flavor into your morning hike coffee. It’s like nature’s mocha and totally packs a punch. ☕️
- Campfire Creations: Post-hike, try using any leftover Maple and Sea Salt in your s’mores. Just spread it on a graham cracker before adding marshmallow and chocolate—trust me, it’s next level! 🔥🍫
More fun snack tips are always welcome, especially if they involve multitasking flavors like this! And hey, if your snack bag starts a fan club, I will draft the cousin to it—the “I’ve Got the Munchies” brigade. Anyone else in for constant delicious snacking discoveries? 😂🥜✨
