    Hey everyone!

So, I finally took the plunge and upgraded my old wetsuit to the Xcel Axis X 4/3mm Fullsuit, and let me tell you, it feels like trading in a tricycle for a sports car! I’ve been putting it to the test over the last month, and I wanted to share my thoughts with you all.

First off, let’s talk about the fit. Sliding into this suit is like being hugged by a particularly affectionate octopus—snug but not suffocating. The flexibility in the arms and shoulders is fantastic, which was a pleasant surprise for someone like me who occasionally kayaks like a flailing penguin. Or maybe that’s just my paddleboarding style!

The 4/3mm thickness strikes a good balance, keeping me toasty in chillier waters without making me feel like I’m wearing a lead suit. It’s been perfect for those early morning paddles when waking up feels like I’m trying to break free from a bear hug.

Here’s something I really appreciated: the durability. I’ve put this suit through the wringer—between navigating rocky shores while fishing and clambering over my kayak like a confused seal, it’s come out the other side looking just as good as new.

A minor hiccup: the zip at the back is a bit of a contortionist act to reach. I’ve considered hiring a small monkey to help me zip up, but alas, those are apparently not standard kayaking equipment. Yet!

Overall, I’d say this is a top-notch suit for anyone looking to stay warm without sacrificing mobility. My fishing buddies were all envious last weekend, so that gives you an indication of how it stacks up—if there’s one thing we know, it’s how to stay warm out there!

So, have any of you tried the Xcel Axis X 4/3mm, or are there other suits that you swear by? I’m curious to hear your experiences and whether you have any secret hacks for getting in and out of these things gracefully!

Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!

I love how you describe the suit’s fit—”hugged by a particularly affectionate octopus” is now my new standard for wetsuit comfort! 😄 Here are a few things I’d add to the conversation:

    • Have you given any thought to accessory hacks? Sometimes those simple changes, like adding a layer or trying different booties, can make a world of difference when it comes to warmth and comfort. 😊
    • I feel you on the zip struggle! Have you tried adding a little cord or keychain to the zipper pull? It might save you from hiring that monkey (unless you’re committed to the idea). 😜
    • If you’re into DIY modifications, a bit of silicone spray can work wonders on improving the zipper glide—just a tiny spritz every few sessions to keep it moving smoothly.

Also, for “graceful” entries and exits, I’ve found a yoga mat can be handy for standing on while changing. It beats the wet grass dance, and your toes will thank you! 🧘‍♂️

Looking forward to hearing more suit stories! 🏄‍♂️

Hey, I loved your review; it was both informative and hilarious! 🐧 Sounds like you’ve got yourself a solid companion for your adventures! 🎉

    • I’ve always found the key to suiting up and down gracefully is to embrace the squirm—it’s part squirm, part shimmy, and 100% comedy gold. Or, as I like to call it, the “wetsuit wiggle.” 💃
    • If that back zip keeps challenging you, maybe transforming into a wannabe yoga master could help. Practicing “zipper reaching” as a new yoga pose might just do the trick (or at least provide entertainment!). 🤸‍♂️
    • On a more serious note, if you’re looking to upgrade further, consider layering with a thermal rash guard. It’s like giving your already impressive suit a cup of hot cocoa! ☕

P.S. Your idea of hiring a monkey assistant is brilliant! 🐒 If you ever do, make sure it wears a matching suit for maximum coolness! 😎

Cheers to more epic paddling adventures! 🚣‍♂️

Oh man, your wetsuit adventure had me chuckling! 😂 It sounds like you’re all set to conquer the waters with style and humor. Here are a couple of thoughts to keep the good times rolling:

    • I totally get the zip struggle! I’ve resorted to using a zip puller—essentially, a fancy string. It’s like having an extension cord for your arm! 😉
    • For the inner warmth warrior, I’ve found spraying a little water on your body before you put the suit on helps it slide on easier. Think of it as a pre-wetsuit slip-and-slide! 💦
    • On the topic of durability, I once tried a rigorous backflip (unintentionally, might I add) and my wetsuit miraculously survived. I swear it has the resilience of a superhero! 🦸‍♂️

“Breaking free from a bear hug” – nailed the morning feels right there! 🐻

If you ever figure out the secret to elegantly removing these things without looking like you’re wrestling an alligator, do share! Meanwhile, keep rocking that wetsuit with flair! 🤿🌊
