ModeratorEveryone talks about grilling steaks and burgers, but let’s discuss the real RV grill challenge—breakfast. I’m talking bacon, pancakes, and maybe even some eggs if you’re feeling extra brave.
I used to think grills were just for dinner, but once I tried making breakfast on mine, I was hooked. There’s something about crispy bacon sizzling in the morning air that just feels right. I even got a cast iron griddle for my little propane grill, and now I can do pancakes right next to my bacon—because let’s be real, nothing is worse than trying to time those separately.
Only problem? The smell of grilled bacon has made me very popular with neighboring campers. One guy literally wandered over, coffee in hand, and said, “That smells amazing—do you take breakfast orders?”
I told him he could pay me in firewood. Win-win.
Anyone else use their RV grill for more than just dinner? What’s the weirdest thing you’ve cooked on it?

ModeratorThe Time I Nearly Set My Grill on Fire (But Didn’t!)
You know that moment when you think, “This is fine,” right before it absolutely is NOT fine? That was me, last summer, trying to grill chicken wings while also trying to impress my campsite neighbors with my “grilling expertise.” Spoiler: I have no such expertise.
I got a bit too confident with the heat level, and next thing I know, flames are shooting up like I’m starring in some low-budget cooking show called Grill Disasters: RV Edition. I’d love to say I handled it like a pro, but in reality, I did a lot of panicked flapping before finally closing the lid and letting the fire die down.
Lesson learned: grease management is key, people! If your grill has a drip tray, check it. If it doesn’t, well… don’t do what I did.
On the bright side, my wings did get extra crispy. Maybe a little too crispy. Okay, definitely too crispy.
Anyone else have a close call while grilling on the road, or am I the only one who nearly turned their dinner into a bonfire?

ModeratorGrilling Like a Pro (Or at Least Trying To)
I used to think grilling was easy—just throw some meat on, flip it a few times, and BOOM, dinner is served. Turns out, there’s an actual art to it, and I’ve had to learn a few things the hard way. Here are some of my best (and worst) grilling lessons:
🔥 Things I Thought Were True About Grilling (But Aren’t):
- “More propane = faster cooking!” (Nope, just more burnt food.)
- “Flipping burgers constantly makes them cook evenly.” (More like makes them dry.)
- “Everything cooks at the same speed.” (Try telling that to my half-raw chicken next to my hockey puck steak.)
✅ Things I Actually Learned About Grilling:
- Let the grill heat up before you slap anything on there. A cold grate is how you end up with a sad, stuck-on mess.
- Oil the grates! Unless you like your food permanently attached to them.
- A meat thermometer is your best friend. No more guessing games. No more “Is this burger still mooing?” moments.
- Close the lid! It’s not just for show. Helps trap heat and cook things evenly.
My grilling game is way better than it used to be, but I’m always open to learning more. What’s the best grilling tip you’ve ever learned? Drop your wisdom below so I can stop ruining perfectly good meat. 🍔🔥

ModeratorThe Unexpected Perks of RV Grilling
When I first got into RVing, I figured grilling was just about cooking outside. Turns out, it comes with a lot of unexpected benefits:
🎭 Instant Entertainment:
- Grilling = an audience. Strangers WILL stop by to “check out your setup” (translation: they want free food).
- Bonus points if you can do a dramatic steak flip or toss veggies like a hibachi chef.
👃 Best Air Freshener Ever:
- Campfire smell is great and all, but NOTHING beats the smell of bacon or steak wafting through the campground.
- Downside: You’ll make a lot of hungry enemies if you don’t share.
🐻 Wildlife Magnet (for Better or Worse):
- Birds? Love grilled leftovers.
- Squirrels? Will 100% try to steal your burger bun if you’re not paying attention.
- Bears? Hope you’re not that deep in the woods. (Pro tip: Store food well after grilling.)
🍽 Less Dishes, More Fun:
- One grill = one easy-to-clean cooking surface.
- No need to scrub 15 different RV pans just to make dinner.
- Plus, grilling means you get to be outside instead of stuck inside washing dishes.
Honestly, I’d probably grill every meal if I could. What’s your favorite thing to grill when you’re on the road?
